Qualcomm Inc. has announced the commercial release of its ViaWeb 3.0 Internet-based load-tracking interface, which provides direct access to real-time shipment information on loads transported throughout the NAFTA region.

Using data from Qualcomm's mobile communications systems, ViaWeb allows fleets and third parties to track and report online current load status and position, information, proof of delivery and exception data.

By accessing a ViaWeb home page, which can be customized with the carrier's logo, users can request the data in download form as well as formatted historical load event summaries and mapping. Carriers can provide this information as a service to their customers, even if the carrier does not have its own web site.

Information from ViaWeb, which is available in both English and Spanish, can be used to supplement Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions. Carriers can also track and report complete location and status information when another carrier has been sub-contracted for final delivery.

Shipments can be tracked even as they cross the border into Mexico and are picked up by Mexican carriers equipped with Qualcomm mobile communications systems.
