The company's ProtectIT system safeguards data by automatically retracting drive heads when extreme shocks or acceleration is detected. Another proprietary technology called QuickBack recovers critical data by reverting to a data point prior to any data loss or system failure.

Hammerhead options for wireless communications include 802.11 a/b/g and Bluetooth, as well as WAN connectivity for GPS and GPRS networks.

Basic specs for the new generation Hammerhead tablets include Centrino processors, shock-mounted 40 or 60 GB hard disk drives, milled aluminum or magnesium housings, dual hot-swappable Li-ion batteries and Windows XP Table PC operating system.
