Diesel set a new record high last week after jumping another 3.4 cents to $1.814 per gallon, the Energy Information Administration said. Diesel prices, which have recently kept pace with crude prices, may rise even higher in the coming weeks when last week’s record-high crude prices hit the pumps.
Once again, California remains the highest region to fill up at $2.113 per gallon, despite a 0.2-cent drop in prices. The Gulf Coast is the cheapest region to fill up at $1.756 per gallon, despite jumping 3.4 cents. The largest increase was posted in the Midwest, up 4.3 cents to $1.781 per gallon. The largest decline was seen in the West, down 0.6 cents to $2.03 per gallon.
