New Jersey State Police seize $5 million from truck
    Feb. 18, 2005

New Jersey State Police confiscated over $5 million from a tractor-trailer found idling for two days in a commercial area of South Brunswick, NJ. The truck and trailer were from Victorville, CA-based Landforce Express Corp., a 100% owner-operator driven company, NJ State Police spokesman Stephen Jones told Fleet Owner.

Salvadore Delarosa, 46, of San Bernardino, CA was found near the vehicle and arrested on charges of money laundering.

The cash was found in six cardboard boxes in the truck’s sleeper berth. Each box weighed 100 lbs. “We believe (the money) is proceeds of drug transactions,” Jones said.

The preliminary count was $5.3 million, making this the largest money seizure in the state’s history.
