Telematics provider AirIQ names COO

Toronto, Canada-based telematics system provider AirIQ has named Kenneth Wiesner as its COO. He joined the company last year after AirIQ acquired Aircept.com of Irvine, CA, a firm Wiesner headed up as president & CEO.

Wiesner’s appointment is part of a major reorganization, said AirIQ, intended to sort out and integrate several firms it acquired in 2004. AirIQ said it is forming five strategic business units – Commercial Fleets, Consumer Markets, Vehicle Finance, Indirect Distribution, and the Marine market – to combine areas of shared expertise.

Those include combining technology, finance and corporate services, streamlining technology solutions to five from approximately twenty, rationalizing internal accounting systems to eliminate duplication and opening a 24/7 customer-facing client care in Toronto, the company said.

“One of the primary objectives of the company going forward in 2005 is to optimize the infrastructure while growing dramatically,” said Wiesner. “As a combined entity there will be a redistribution of expertise to maximize the impact of the acquisitions and further strengthen AirIQ’s position in the telematics industry.”
