    Cummins Inc. today announced a new business venture dedicated to the development and marketing of solutions that treat engine-combustion byproducts.

    The technology offered through Cummins' Fleetguard Emission Solutions unit will enable reciprocating engines to cost-effectively meet or exceed future emissions requirements.

    The business unit will focus on retrofitting existing engines with emissions control devices, as well as developing new technologies for future emissions requirements.

    Fleetguard Emission Solutions will be part of Cummins' Filtration Business division. It will be headed by Mike Cross, who has been named vp of the unit. Cross joined Cummins in 1984 and has had extensive experience in finance, logistics management and sales and marketing during his career at Cummins.
