All-time record light truck sales allowed American Honda Motor Co. Inc. to finish March with overall sales of 104,713 vehicles, up 2.1% compared to March 2001 based on a daily selling rate, according to figures released today by the company.
"At this point, the only limit on light truck sales is product availability," said Honda executive vp Dick Colliver.
American Honda total light truck sales of 33,664 increased 27.3%, topping the previous record set in December 2001. The Honda Odyssey, CR-V and Acura MDX all set sales records in March.
Honda Odyssey sales of 15,020 vehicles increased 24% from March 2001, while CR-V sales of 13,722 units were 52.1% higher than the same period last year. With sales of 5,083, Acura MDX sales increased 21% for the month.
