USCO Logistics has been selected by JCPenney Company Inc. to operate four regional automated store support centers. Hamden, CT-based USCO will manage facilities in the Pacific Northwest, Mountain, Southeast and Midwest regions and providing dedicated warehousing and pre-retailing services for boxed and hanging apparel and other products.

The facilities are an integral part of JCPenney's new distribution strategy, designed to more efficiently move merchandise from suppliers to stores, improving customer service while reducing cost, time and handling in the process, USCO said.

USCO, whose customers include Wal-Mart, Target and Home Depot, offers specialized solutions that include distribution of hard-line and soft-line merchandise to stores, distribution of non-merchandise store-support product, overflow warehousing and distribution of retailers' forward or opportunistic merchandise buys and seasonal build-ups and returns.

"The addition of one of the world's best-known companies to our family of customers further strengthens our presence in the retail and consumer merchandise sectors," said USCO president & CEO Robert R. Auray Jr.
