Diesel engine filtration and replacement part manufacturer is appealing a $16 million judgment handed down last week in a patent infringement case brought against it six years ago.
The jury trial between Donaldson and Engineered Products Company (EPC) began in 1998 in the U.S. Federal District Court for the Northern District of Iowa. On May 11, this year, the jury found in favor of EPC, with court ruling on August 12 that damages should be approximately $16 million.
Donaldson said it intends to “vigorously challenge” that judgment via an appeal to the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, which could take up to two years or longer to complete, the company noted.
