MinorPlanet's wireless vehicle monitoring system has added a two-way messaging option, allowing drivers to send and receive preset and free-form text.

The company's Vehicle Management Information (VMI) system is designed to track service and delivery trucks operating in metropolitan areas. The new Fixed Data Terminal option will enable dispatchers and drivers to alter routes, add jobs, react to emergencies or make other changes while the truck is on the road. The new option includes an in-cab display, a keyboard and capacity for 32 customized preset messages or unlimited free-form text messages.
