800,000 BIG ONES
International Truck and Engine Corp.'s Chatham, Ontario heavy-truck assembly plant recently rolled its 800,000th truck off the line. Jordan Feiger, vp & gm of International's Heavy Vehicle Center, presented the keys of the milestone vehicle-an International 9400i-long-time customer Al McCully, president of Chatham-based Preferred Transportation Limited.
International executives and plant employees also recently celebrated what the OEM terms its renewed commitment to the facility. Back on September 4, International announced the plant would continue to produce premium heavy trucks as the result of a new contract inked with the Canadian Auto Workers union as well as the support of the Canadian and Ontario governments.
“International is very proud of its long manufacturing history in the Chatham-Kent community and of the high level of quality built into our trucks produced here,” noted Feiger. “We are excited about our continued operation in Chatham and look forward to the role our employees will play in strengthening our heavy business.”
International's manufacturing history in Chatham dates back to 1922, when the Chatham Wagon Works began producing trucks for the company.
