Novopoint, a supply-chain software company, and the National Transportation Exchange (NTE), a web-based load matching firm, have formed a strategic alliance to focus on the transportation needs of manufacturers of consumer packaged goods (CPG) and their suppliers.

Under the terms of the agreement, NTE's member carrier data and online services will be integrated into Novopoint's system to improve logistics cost management for Novopoint clients. NTE, based in Downers Grove, IL, said it has 2,000 carrier members in its system. That carrier database will augment the existing transportation and shipment visibility within Novopoint's application, resulting in greater cost efficiency and value across the supply chain, the company said.

Novopoint said its network connects CPG manufacturers, such as food and beverage companies with their suppliers of raw materials, specialty ingredients, packaging equipment and transportation. Novopoint said using its system offers operational cost savings of 1% to 9%.
