The Bendix AD-IS air dryer lowers weight, reduces leak potential and eases installation with a modular design that incorporates a variety of charging system components, according to Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems.

Introduced at the annual meeting of the Technology and Maintenance Council, the AD-IS includes four pressure protection valves, eliminating the need for remotely mounted valves and providing direct charging from the air dryer. The new dryer also features a self-contained purge volume, providing extra braking reserve, and a spin-on desiccant cartridge.

Bendix has also announced an air-filtering device designed to remove oil and carbon from the air system before it reaches the air dryer. The PuraGuard DL traps contaminants with a spin-on microglass fiber filter, reducing air system maintenance and extending air dryer cartridge life, especially in refuse haulers, dump trucks and other vocations with high compressor duty cycles, according to Bendix.
