Hendrickson has developed an HNP trailer wheel end prototype designed especially for vocational applications looking for low-weight options. HNP is made from austempered ductile iron, which the company says is as light as aluminum, yet twice as strong.

According to Hendrickson, when used on its P90 spindles, the wheel end enables users to switch between duals and wide-based tires. The HNP wheel end and P90 spindle combination result in even lubrication and require only one standard bearing size.

Production of the new trailer wheel end is slated for next year.
