Cargo airline adds LTL

Dallas-based air cargo airline Kitty Hawk reports that its fledgling scheduled LTL ground freight network is off to a strong start, despite being launched with little fanfare at the end of October.

“During the first month, our trucks operated with an average load factor of approximately 47.5%; arrived on time to the customer above 99% of the time; and completed 99.99% of our published schedule,” said Robert Zoller, president & CEO.

So far, Kitty Hawk’s LTL ground freight network serves 28 cities, which it plans to expand to 46 cities by the end of February, said Zoller.

Kitty Hawk’s fleet of Boeing 737-300SF and 727 cargo aircraft currently serves more than 550 freight forwarders, integrated carriers, logistics companies and major airlines primarily for heavy-weight shipments over 150 lbs, special goods with unique dimensions, perishables, animals and other goods.
