Pierce Manufacturing and its employees are donating a specially built air and light support rescue vehicle to the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).

"We work shoulder to shoulder with firefighters daily and we feel a special bond," said Robert G. Bohn, president & CEO of Pierce parent company Oshkosh Truck Corp. "We manufacture fire and rescue trucks, so that is what we have done for the firefighters and people of New York."

The vehicle is built on a Kenworth four-door T-300 chassis, which was donated by Kenworth Truck Co. In addition, almost 70 component manufacturers donated or installed equipment for the FDNY vehicle. It bears a special vehicle identification number: 9-11-01.
