U.S. Xpress's revenues rise

U.S. Xpress Enterprises Inc. said that its operating revenues increased 7.6% to $231.9 million for the second quarter, and 9.6% to $452.6 million for the first half of the year. For the first six months of 2003, the company reported net income of $2.3 million compared with a net loss of $505,000 for the prior-year period.

Co-chairman Patrick Quinn noted that in its truckload operations, operating income and revenues improved quarter despite the economic environment, which adversely impacted loaded miles per tractor.
