I-95 Southbound travel lanes between Exits 27A and 25 are now open to all traffic— marking the reopening of both the North and Southbound lanes of the interstate in the Bridgeport, CT, area.

Chris Cooper of the Connecticut DOT told Fleet Owner that all commercial traffic is able to resume normal operations as the North and Southbound lanes can support all vehicles, including those carrying oversized loads.

All motorists are advised that the I-95 stretch in the Bridgeport, CT, area will remain a construction zone as a 12- to 18-month permanent overpass project— to replace the temporary bridge that reopened the Southbound lanes— is under way. The speed limit is strictly enforced at 45 mph in the construction area.

The timing could not have been better as rain broke last night, ending the week-long stretch of favorable weather that expedited the construction process. The reopening came just in time for today’s morning commute after construction crews worked around the clock since the interstate was shut down last Thursday.
