Diesel Price Drops Again

The national average for retail diesel fuel declined for the second straight week, according to Oil Price Information Service’s (OPIS) Diesel Price Index. The U.S. average diesel pump price dropped 2.7 cents to $1.48 per gal. The national average for retail diesel fuel declined for the second straight week, according to Oil Price Information Service’s (OPIS) Diesel Price Index.

The U.S. average diesel pump price dropped 2.7 cents to $1.48 per gal. Although the average stands 7.5 cents per gal higher than a year ago, pump prices were the lowest since early May, with decreases noted in all regions.

Diesel in the East Coast region is currently 1.3 cents over year ago levels at $1.42 per gal. The Gulf Coast region is averaging $1.43 per gal, while the Rocky Mountain region continues to top the retail price list at $1.61 per gal, which is down 1.4 cents per gal on the week.

Midwest retail diesel is 10 cents per gal higher than this time last year, but dropped 6 cents per gal last week to an average $1.51 per gal. Out West, retail diesel averaged $1.56 per gal, a 1.8 cent decline for the week, but still 11 cents per gal over the same period last year.
