Diesel up 0.2 cents to $2.59

The national average price for a gallon of diesel edged up 0.2 cents to $2.59, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Although the national average saw a price hike, some regions posted a decline, with the Midwest seeing the biggest drop. That region saw a 0.8-cent drop to $2.532. The Rocky Mountain saw the biggest price hike after a 4.7-cent increase to $2.726. The Gulf Coast has not renounced its claim to being the cheapest region in which to buy diesel, as prices slipped 0.4 cents to $2.508. Nor has California given up its title as the most expensive region for diesel purchases, after a 0.8-cent increase to $3.045.
