• Cummins in Natural Gas Engine Venture

    Cummins Inc. and Westport Innovations Inc. have announced a joint venture to develop and market low-emissions, high-performance natural gas engines. Under the terms of the agreement, Canada-based Westport will contribute its high-pressure direct injection (HPDI) technology and other proprietary natural gas technologies.     Cummins Inc. and Westport Innovations Inc. have announced a joint venture to develop and market low-emissions, high-performance natural gas engines.

    Under the terms of the agreement, Canada-based Westport will contribute its high-pressure direct injection (HPDI) technology and other proprietary natural gas technologies.

    Cummins will contribute its current medium-duty, spark-ignited natural gas engines and proprietary engine-related technologies for on-highway vehicles, as well as industrial and power generation applications.

    Cummins will manufacture the engines, and they will be exclusively distributed and serviced through the Cummins distribution system.

    The joint venture is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Its board of directors consists of three representatives from Cummins and three from Westport.
