Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association president Jim Johnston said today that its members are ready to help out with rescue efforts in New York City and Washington, DC.

"Within minutes after the first airplane crashed into the World Trade Center in New York, we started receiving phone calls from professional trucker members asking how they could help the victims - offering to make themselves and their equipment available to transport emergency supplies that might be needed by the emergency personnel at the sites in New York and Washington, DC," Johnston said.

"The nation's professional truckers extend their deepest sympathies to the families of those killed and injured in the terrorist attacks and now in the rescue efforts at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon," Jim Johnston President of the "This senseless and heretofore almost unimaginable tragedy reminds us all of how precious our families and loved ones are and also reminds us of how precious all life is," Johnston said. "I want to assure the American people that America's truck drivers are ready, willing and able to provide assistance anywhere and everywhere needed.”
