NHTSA plans crash tests for 2002 model cars and trucks

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) plans to crash test 72 cars and light trucks to provide a range of safety information, including risk of rollover and side impact crashworthiness. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) plans to crash test 72 cars and light trucks to provide a range of safety information, including risk of rollover and side impact crashworthiness.

NHTSA said 41 vehicles will be subjected to head-on frontal crashes and 31 vehicles will be inflicted with side impact collisions. NHTSA will also test the rollover propensity of 61 vehicles.
