USF Logistics has opened a 50,000-sq.-ft. service center in Phoenix. The location brings the total of USF Logistics service centers to 21, with two additional locations targeted by year-end.

The company said the Phoenix facility is supported with power conveyors, state-of-the-art security and excellent highway access, and is positioned to provide a full range of cross-dock capabilities to customers in this market, including distribution, consolidation, import deconsolidation and flow-through order fulfillment.

USF Logistics' expansion to Phoenix is part of its plan to establish cross-dock solutions in major North American markets. The company's goal is to provide direct coverage to 75% of the major market population within the next three years.

"One of our big competitive advantages is our high-end transportation management system, one of the premier TMS technology products available," said president & CEO Thomas Lilly. "With it, we can offer superior tracking, tracing and Web capabilities."
