Zonar Systems has announced that Mike Griffus, an expert on pupil transportation and commercial trucking, has joined the company as director of sales.

Griffus comes to Zonar from Laidlaw Transit, Inc., the world’s largest school bus fleet operator. As senior vp for the Western US region, he managed 120 locations and more than 7,500 vehicles. While Zonar is headquartered in Seattle, WA, Griffus will be based in Zonar’s Pleasanton, CA, office.

“Mike Griffus has more than 20 years’ experience with every facet of fleet operation,” stated Zonar marketing director Bill Brinton. “His breadth of transportation-related operational and management experience is an invaluable addition to our company. As director of sales, Mike will manage and grow Zonar’s sales team, which currently spans the US, Canada and Australia.”

The company offers a suite of integrated fleet telematics products that have been built around their patented, verified visual inspection system known as EVIR (Electronic Vehicle Inspection and Reporting system). EVIR replaces the paper-based pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection process with an electronic, RFID-based system.
