Kentucky truck inspectors seize $1.1 million worth of pot
A commercial vehicle stopped by Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement (KVE) officers was found to be carrying 700 lbs. of marijuana valued at approximately $1.1 million, KVE announced Friday. This drug bust marks one of KVE’s largest ever.
The tractor-trailer was stopped at a weigh station off I-65 in Simpson County for a violation when officers found the marijuana in several boxes not documented on the driver’s shipping papers. The driver, a resident of Pembroke Pines, FL, did not have a CDL.
The driver was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, operating without a CDL, operating a commercial vehicle without a medical examiner’s certificate, and violation of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Drug enforcement officials and local authorities made four additional arrests in the case after the driver cooperated.
