Heralding highway safety as the group's top priority, the Texas Motor Transportation Assn. (TMTA) has unveiled its state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind driver simulator and mobile classroom as part of its Sharing the Road Safely – Texas Style program.

The simulator and mobile classroom is a result of a partnership between the association that represents the Texas trucking industry and the Texas DOT, TMTA said. TMTA chairman Bob Gillikin told industry and government officials that the project demonstrates a commitment on the part of the trucking industry to help make Texas highways safer for everyone.

"Trucking has a substantial investment as well as a tremendous responsibility when it comes to safe operations on our highways," Gillikin said. "We believe a project like this simulator and a program such as this illustrates our commitment to helping everyone be safer as they travel throughout our state."

The mobile classroom includes interactive computer-based training and a full-motion driver simulator developed by I-Sim of Salt Lake City.
