Truckload carrier Heartland Express has terminated its relationship with Arthur Andersen LLP and has appointed KPMG LLP as its new auditor.

Coralville, IA-based Heartland added that there are no disagreements between itself and Andersen regarding fiscal audits of the carrier's 2001 and 2000 annual statements, as well as through April 5 of this year.

Engine maker Cummins Inc. and car carrier Allied Holdings Inc. both announced last week that they have fired Arthur Andersen, which has seen troubled times since its role in shredding documents related to the bankruptcy of energy giant Enron Corp. became public. FedEx Corp. made the switch from Arthur Andersen last month.
