Members of the medical, transportation and safety communities have established the National Academy of DOT Medical Examiners (NADME), a non-profit organization aimed at addressing “serious flaws” in the medical-certification process for commercial vehicle drivers.
NADME said it will focus on three objectives:
- provide national standards and training materials for the initial and follow-up training of medical practitioners who perform driver exams
- administer a standardized exam to certify these medical practitioners
- make available to the public a registry of medical examiners certified by NADME
