Cargo rule gets technical
The Federal Motor Carrier Administration (FMCSA) published a number of technical amendments to its Final Rule on cargo securement (49 CFR Part 393) in the June 22 Federal Register.
The amendments address manufacturing standards for tiedowns, as well as cargo securement requirements for dressed lumber, metal coils, paper rolls, intermodal containers and flattened cars.
The amended Final Rule went into effect July 24, 2006.
