CompassCom, Sierra Wireless, and AT&T Wireless are offering a $50,000 grant to the U.S. state, regional, or local government agency that plans the most innovative multi-departmental Mobile Asset Tracking project involving GPS and GIS technology.
The grant winner will receive $50,000 in software, hardware, wireless data plans and training. Applications will be accepted beginning October 15, 2004, through November 15, 2004. Awards will be announced on December 2, 2004.
The grant is intended to give governments an opportunity to assess their mobile resource management needs relevant to public works and public utilities through the combined use of GIS, automatic vehicle location, GPS, and wireless notebooks.
“This is an excellent opportunity for an agency to achieve interoperability among multiple departments, even with budget constraints,” said Christian Solomine, CompassCom director of sales& marketing.
