Diesel drops to $1.983

The national average retail price for a gallon of diesel took a modest 0.9-cent dip to $1.983, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. This breaks a stint of rising prices, which increased 5.8 cents over four weeks.

New England remained the most expensive region to fill up, despite a slight 0.3-cent drop to $2.222. The Midwest and Gulf Coast regions tied for the lowest prices this week at $1.938. The Lower Atlantic region saw the biggest drop as prices fell 2.9 cents to $1.95. Not all regions posted a decline, with prices in the West Coast advancing the most at 2.8 cents to $2.113.
