Chicago-based less-than-truckload conglomerate USFreightways Corp. is appointing some new executives as it puts into action a new strategic business plan.

Effective February 1, Douglas R. Waggoner will become USF’s senior vp of strategic marketing, reporting directly to Samuel K. Skinner, the carrier’s president & CEO.

Waggoner is currently president & COO of Daylight Transport, a non-asset based LTL and truckload transportation company based in Southern California. He joined Daylight after a successful career at Yellow Freight where he served in sales, operations, marketing and customer-service positions.

Also, Bob Fasso, president of USFreightways’ Regional Carrier Group, has resigned from his position. Skinner said the company is realigning its Carrier Group (LTL and truckload) under Pete Neydon, president of subsidiary USF Holland and Jared McArthur, president of subsidiary USF Reddaway.
