Freightliner LLC has announced that Rich Ferguson, gm of acquisitions and operations for Freightliner Market Development Corp. (FMDC), the OEM’s used truck business, has been named president of the organization. He replaces Bill Gordon, who is departing FMDC to work full-time on a “significant” project for Freightliner LLC.

In his new role as president, Ferguson aims to broaden the OEM’s used trucks distribution network, SelecTruck, and expand its lease and warranty options, financing products and buyer’s assurance program. He will report directly to Mark Lampert, senior vp of sales for Freightliner LLC.

For now, Ferguson will maintain his responsibilities as gm of acquisitions and operations while taking on added responsibilities as president. Freightliner LLC expects to announce a person to fill his gm position “soon.”

Gordon was named FMDC’s first president in 1996 and has since led the creation of SelecTruck, which now has 41 outlets in the U.S. and Canada.
