Yellow, Road Air form global alliance

Yellow Global, the international transportation subsidiary of LTL giant Yellow Corp., has formed a strategic alliance with Road Air Distribution B.V., part of BV Transport Management International Holding (TMI) of the Netherlands. As part of the alliance, Yellow Global will represent Road Air Distribution in the U.S. and Road Air Distribution will represent Yellow Global in Europe in the areas of logistics, distribution, value-added services and inter-country ground transportation.

Yellow Global added that it already has developed and implemented a complete agency network structure throughout Europe to handle intra-country freight forwarding activities.

The alliance aims to offer more cost-effective, end-to-end services in the areas of logistics, transportation and value-added services to shippers in Europe and the U.S., said Jim Ritchie, president & CEO of Yellow Global. The deal also replaces Yellow's 10-year relationship with European forwarder Frans Maas, which recently formed an alliance with FedEx Corp.

Yellow Corp., based in Overland Park, KS, operates a range of transportation entities in the U.S., the largest of which is LTL carrier Yellow Freight. The corporation generated $3.6 billion in revenues last year.

Road Air Distribution maintains a distribution center in the Netherlands, from which it has close access to the European hinterland. Its main activities are warehousing and European road transportation in conjunction with its sister company, Road Air Transport. Both companies are part of the TMI Group.
