The microprocessor electronically adjusts and closes off more exhaust at lower rpms to provide better supplemental braking without the driver having to downshift, Pacbrake says. The driver also has the option to turn the microprocessor on or off via a switch in the truck cab. Pacbrake estimates the cost of the Class 8 version of its MCXB exhaust brake to be less than $1,500.
