New options for the @Road fleet management system offer electronic drivers logs and automated state mileage reports, reducing paperwork chores for drivers while improving back-office productivity and accuracy, according to the Fremont, CA, company.

The automate hours-of-service feature, @Road Driver Logs, allows drivers to use the system's on-board Internet Data Terminal to record duty-status changes as well as view summaries of on-duty and driving hours, even if they switch vehicles. The new option can also be used to generate reports for drivers and co-drivers on hours worked, hours available and potential regulatory violations.

Because @Road is an application service provider (ASP), software for the drivers log feature is hosted by the company and will be automatically updated without any action by drivers or fleets when new HOS regulations take effect on Jan. 4, 2004, according to the company.

The other feature announced, the @Road State Mileage Report, automatically collects and reports information needed by fleets to file quarterly fuel tax reports.

Monthly subscription costs for the two new options are $28 to $33 per vehicle in addition to the service's standard service fees.
