Knight Transportation Inc. reported that its revenue and net income for the third-quarter and the first nine months of 2003 were higher than they were for the same periods last year.
3Q revenue before fuel surcharges increased 16% to $84,445,000 and net income increased 27.2% to $9,463,000. For the nine months, revenue before fuel surcharge increased 18.1% to $239,786,000 and net income increased 29.4% to $25,490,000.
Chairman & CEO Kevin P. Knight said the carrier benefitted from improved revenue per mile for the sixth consecutive quarter. He said that was in part due to opening an operating center in Denver and the company's Phoenix operations being segregated from one center to four.
Knight said the carrier plans to add 75 new units before the end of the year.
