CVS expands contract with Ryder

CVS Corp., one of the nation's largest pharmaceutical retailers, has extended and expanded its transportation contract with Ryder System Inc. Under a multi-year Dedicated Contract Carriage (DCC) contract, Ryder delivers products from distribution centers in Bessemer, AL, Novi, MI, Lumberton, N.J. and Woonsocket, RI to CVS/pharmacy retail outlets in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois,
CVS Corp., one of the nation's largest pharmaceutical retailers, has extended and expanded its transportation contract with Ryder System Inc.

Under a multi-year Dedicated Contract Carriage (DCC) contract, Ryder delivers products from distribution centers in Bessemer, AL, Novi, MI, Lumberton, N.J. and Woonsocket, RI to CVS/pharmacy retail outlets in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

The expanded equipment package includes 40 additional tractors and 90 trailers. Ryder must also deliver from distribution centers to the first store within a 15-minute delivery window, with 30-minute windows for the other stops on those routes.

Ryder provides full-service lease and finance lease services to support CVS's private fleet operations in four locations across the U.S., bringing Ryder's total CVS package to 207 drivers, 130 tractors and 250 trailers.

Ryder's contract with CVS began in 1997, with Ryder providing DCC services at CVS distribution centers in Lumberton, NJ and Woonsocket, RI CVS manages a national chain of 4,100 stores.
