Computing service providers to the trucking industry report having updated their systems to comply with the new hours-of-service (HOS) rule that went into effect on Oct. 1.

For example, PeopleNet COO Ron Konezny said: “We have been monitoring the government’s progress on the rules and have worked tirelessly to update our system so our customers won’t skip a beat as the new rules went into effect and are enforced.”

Innovative Computing Corp., which specializes in systems for truckload carriers, also announced its systems update. “At the time of the last HOS changes, we rewrote the related software to make it easier to change, assuming that the HOS rules would change,” said ICC CEO Ernie Betancourt. “This modern architecture allows us to continue to proactively address changes as needed and exable our customers to keep current and ever changing rules of the industry and the changing opportunities of technology.

Cadec Corp. has updated its Mobius TTS systems to comply with the new HOS rule seamlessly as it continues to provide driver violation warnings and via its revised HOS reports.

Atlanta-based supply chain software provider Manhattan Associates reports that its Carrier Management package is now fully upgraded to handle changes made to the new hours of service (HOS) regulations Oct. 1.

“After Oct. 1, fleets need to know that they are compliant with the new HOS rules and that their drivers can continue to operate at the highest levels of efficiency,” Eddie Capel, Manhattan Associates’ senior vp for product management said. “Our new enhancement helps optimize truck driver schedules in compliance with the new 8+2 requirement for rest periods. It also offers extended waiting capabilities, in which it can recommend to truckers already in rest periods the additional number of hours needed to meet HOS requirements.”
