XATA has received the initial order from Freightliner LLC for 250 systems which XATA expects to deliver throughout 2004. The purchase was approved by the USPS Board of Governors last month and includes an estimated 1,800 XATA systems.

A customer since 1998, the USPS currently operates XATA's OpCenter system on approximately 500 vehicles at over 80 sites. In addition to the cargo van purchase, the USPS plans to upgrade these previously installed systems with XATA's Position Plus GPS technology and SmartCom wireless WiFi communication capabilities.

"We selected XATA based on the success of our current installations," said Chuck Speelman, Transportation Specialist for the United States Postal Service. "These installations have helped us operate more efficiently through increased fuel economy, improved productivity and enhanced fleet safety. The Postal Service expects to see additional benefits as it expands the capabilities of its systems."
