A driver performance and compliance monitoring application has been developed for PeopleNet's g3 mobile communications platform. The onboard computing and wireless service provider has also announced an interface for the BOLT web-based dispatch service designed for fleets with less than 500 trucks.

SpeedGauge from LandSonar (www.landsonar.com) will use vehicle speed and location information from the g3 onboard computer to provide fleets with reports that compare driver performance to actual road speed limits including limits on city and surface streets. Integrated into the g3 platform, the new application will also rank and rate individual driver performance to help fleet managers identify and monitor high-risk drivers.

Relying on the g3 system to provide individual truck location and status information, BOLT offers smaller fleets dispatch, asset tracking, route optimization, accounting functions, vehicle maintenance management, log checking and brokerage functions in an integrated package, according to the developer. It can also be used to track fuel taxes, tire performance and PM schedules. (www.boltsystem.com)

As a web-base hosted service, BOLT only requires Internet access and provides real-time updates to a secure database, according to the company.
