As rumored, FedEx Corp. confirmed that it plans this spring to offer a package delivery service that uses the U.S. Postal Service to deliver packages ‘the final mile’ to customers especially those in rural areas.
The product, whose name has not yet been made public, will exploit the Postal Service’s ability to reach all U.S. homes in a more timely and efficient manner than anyone else. It is expected to be used largely by companies selling on the internet. FedEx has been testing the delivery service with at least two companies and has offered it to others.
