A major reorganization of regional LTL operations acquired by transportation conglomerate YRC Worldwide last year is underway in an attempt to expand service offerings.

YRC Regional Transportation, the LTL arm of Overland Park, KS-based YRC Worldwide, is consolidating the operations of USF Reddaway and USF Bestway into one company operating under the USF Reddaway brand, while expanding USF Holland geographic coverage and service offerings.

“That translates into more service options for our customers and a simpler customer service experience,” said Jim Staley, president & CEO of YRC Regional Transportation. “Additionally, the expansion of USF Holland deeper into the Midwest and the South provides our customers access to more next-day and regional delivery options.”

The consolidation move expands USF Reddaway’s direct service coverage to a larger geographic area that includes: Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah and Washington, as well as Alberta and British Columbia. The carrier will also now offer new direct services in Arizona, New Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas and expanded capacity in California and Nevada.

T.J. O’Connor trades in his position as president & CEO of USF Bestway to take the reins at the newly beefed up USF Reddaway, based in Clackamas, OR, while former USF Reddaway president & CEO Ed Fitzgerald moves on to pursue other opportunities.

Meanwhile, USF Holland is expanding its full-state coverage in Kansas, with further expansion in Arkansas and Mississippi— acquiring three former USF Bestway facilities in Little Rock, AR, Wichita, KS, and Jackson, MS, to help it serve these markets.

“The expansion of USF Holland and USF Reddaway into these new regional markets will enhance growth prospects for the corporation and add to shareholder value,” noted Bill Zollars, chairman, president & CEO of YRC Worldwide. “It creates a more streamlined organization, a stronger regional network and a very formidable western service provider.”
