    The Virginia Dept. of Transportation has rescheduled the I-95 detour of nighttime traffic on southbound I-95 in Stafford County, just north of Fredericksburg to Mar. 7. The detour of northbound traffic will proceed as scheduled on Mar. 1.

    Currently, the scheduled I-95 detour and lane closures in Stafford County are:

    • Mar. 1: I-95 northbound closed from 10 pm to 4:30 am All northbound traffic will be detoured to northbound Route 1 at Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth).

      Northbound delays: 45 minutes to 90 minutes, barring major incidents

      Detour length: 10 miles

    • Mar. 2: One lane closed on northbound I-95 from 8 pm to 5 am. Northbound lane will reopen at 4:30 am.

      Northbound delays: Traffic will be stopped for 10- to 15-minute intervals beginning at 10 pm

    • Mar. 7: I-95 southbound closed from 10 pm to 5 am. All southbound traffic will be detoured to southbound Route 1 at Exit 140 (Route 630/Stafford).

      Southbound delays: 45 minutes to 90 minutes, barring major incidents

      Detour length: 10 miles

    • Mar. 8: One lane closed on southbound I-95 from 8 pm to 5 am.

      Southbound delays: Traffic will be stopped for 10- to 15-minute intervals beginning at 10 pm.

      Motorists can also use Route 301 as an alternate route if their destination is north of the Fredericksburg region.
