Freightliner announced at Mid-America that a line of Mercedes-Benz manual transmissions will become available later this year for both Sterling Acterra and Freightliner Business Class trucks.
The 6-speed units, featuring hydraulically actuated clutches, are offered in two versions: the direct-drive MBT520S-6D for trucks up to 40,000-lb. GCWR and the overdrive MBT660S-6O for trucks up to 60,000-lb. GCWR.
The transmissions are compatible with medium-duty engines built by Caterpillar, Cummins and Mercedes-Benz. Both models feature a standard SAE six-bolt PTO port on their right side.
Warranty coverage is 3 yr./150,000 mi., including parts and labor.
