Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, (R-TN) has appointed Patrick Quinn, chairman of the American Trucking Assns. (ATA) and president & co-chairman of truckload carrier U.S. Xpress Enterprises, to the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission.

The commission was established by the SAFETEA-LU highway bill to assess the current condition and future needs of the surface transportation system and funding. The commission will be comprised of twelve members, including Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, who will serve as chairman.

“The trucking industry appreciates the opportunity to have a seat at the table as we begin debate on a future national freight policy,” said ATA president & CEO Bill Graves. “This is especially critical as trucking is expected to increase its share of freight movements while congestion points continue to grow across the United States.”
