GeoTrax from Teletouch Communications provides tracking for untethered trailers and cargo containers throughout North America using an unspecified LEO (low earth orbit) satellite network. The trailer hardware is a single self-contained unit with a sealed battery that can power daily position reports for up to seven years.

Units can be individually programmed to send position reports based on customer requirements, and can also monitor up to four user-defined events such as door openings or cargo temperatures, according to Teletouch.

The system includes tracking software and Internet access to position reports collected by the company's network operations center.
