Technologies consulting firm American Management Systems (AMS) and partner DAC Services have developed an electronic identity authentication system to be used in conjunction with pre-employment screening procedures. This new security backstop is designed specifically for the transportation industry, they said.

DAC, a Tulsa-based provider of employment screening for the transportation industry, will provide AMS's electronic identity authentication service, Identicate, in conjunction with its background and pre-employment screening data. The combined products will help the transportation industry authenticate identity using both credit bureau-derived questions as well as industry-specific information from DAC's proprietary databases, the company said.

The ATA already endorses the screening and compliance protection offered through DAC, the company said, and the new service offered with AMS will allow transportation companies to properly pre-screen applicants and employees, detect fraud, and verify an applicant's identity before using the nation's highways, ports, airports and other transportation hubs.

Fairfax, VA-based AMS added that Identicate is an Internet-based service for identity verification that maintains personal privacy. It aids organizations in preventing the issuance of driver's licenses and other official credentials to people with counterfeit documents by analyzing the authenticity of applicants' responses to personal questions that include, but take to the next level, home address, social security number, and telephone numbers. The sources of Identicate's data are providers of fraud-prevention and consumer data and services, AMS said.
