Diesel drops another penny

The national average for a gallon of diesel fuel fell one cent last week to $1.38, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. At $1.571, California’s average dipped under the $1.60 mark for the first time since March 26. The West Coast, at $1.499, and New England, at $1.485, broke the $1.50 mark for the first time in 2001. The three regions, however, still have the highest prices in the U.S.

The Lower Atlantic region’s price went down by a half a penny, but is still the nation’s lowest at $1.332. The Gulf Coast, with a drop of 1.2 cents, fell to an even $1.35, and the Midwest dropped to $1.359, a half-a-cent.
